YU research group 

Prof. Young-Jun Yu received his Ph.D. in Physics from Seoul National University in 2006. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral research scientist in the Department of Physics at Columbia University from 2008 to 2011, where he conducted research on low-dimensional materials and nanoscale electronic phenomena. From 2012 to 2017, he served as a Senior Research Scientist at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), contributing to advanced research on emerging nanoelectronic and optoelectronic technologies.

In 2017, he joined Chungnam National University as a faculty member in the Department of Physics. His research group focuses on the fundamental physics and device applications of low-dimensional nanoscale materials, with particular emphasis on two-dimensional (2D) materials and van der Waals heterostructures.

The Yu Research Group investigates the electrical and optical properties of atomically thin materials, aiming to understand the underlying physical mechanisms governing charge transport, interfacial phenomena, and light–matter interactions at the nanoscale. By combining material synthesis, nanoscale device fabrication, and advanced characterization techniques, the group seeks to develop novel nanoelectronic and nano-optoelectronic devices based on emerging low-dimensional materials.

Current research topics in the group include 2D semiconductor devices, van der Waals heterostructures, nanoscale optoelectronics, charge transport physics, and next-generation electronic and photonic device architectures.
